Brother Corhyn and Goldmask quest Elden Ring walkthrough (2024)

Brother Corhyn is likely to be one of the first characters you meet in Elden Ring, as he’s present the very first time you’re transported to the Roundtable Hold. Goldmask, meanwhile, will take players dozens of hours to reach at his Erdtree-studying vantage point on the Altus Plateau.

These two characters’ stories eventually intertwine and become inseparable. In following their quest line, you’ll uncover the truth about Radagon, Marika, and The Golden Order. Here’s exactly how to do it.

Chapter 1: Introductions

Step 1: Meet Brother Corhyn

To meet Brother Corhyn for the first time, all you need to do is reach the Roundtable Hold. You’ll get there eventually if you just play normally and explore, so if you haven’t been invited to the Hold yet, continue playing until you reach it.

Once you arrive, Corhyn will be one of the first NPCs you can greet in the main room. He sells incantations, so if you’re going for a faith build, go ahead and buy his stock. However, doing so is not necessary to follow his NPC quest.

Step 2: Reach Altus Plateau

If you’re still early in the game, it’s going to be a while before Corhyn leaves the Hold and you can continue his storyline. You have to reach the Altus Plateau, which means either climbing up the Ruin-Strewn Precipice at the northern tip of Liurnia, or finding the two halves of the Dectus Medallion and taking the grand lift up.

Step 3: Find Brother Corhyn on Altus Plateau

Once you reach the plateau, speak to Corhyn if he’s still in the Hold. Afterward, he’ll leave, and you can find him north of the Altus Highway Junction site of grace, near the map stele for Altus Plateau.

He’ll tell you that he’s searching for a mysterious scholar named Goldmask. You’re about to help him along in that quest.

Step 4: Meet Goldmask

Goldmask may look like a horrible ghoul man, but he’s definitely a super smart scholar. He must be, because Brother Corhyn says so. That settles that.

He can be found in the uppermost region of Altus, on the northern side of the broken greatbridge that once spanned the forest there. The nearest site of grace is the Road of Iniquity Side Path. From there, you’ll need to skirt around eastward then head up the slopes to reach the greatbridge fragments.

Chapter 2: Brothers in Scholarship

Step 5: Introduce Corhyn and Goldmask

Goldmask himself has no dialogue, but you can now return to Brother Corhyn and inform him of his idol’s location. Corhyn will head there lickety-split.

At Goldmask’s side, Corhyn will explain that “the noble Goldmask” is conveying great knowledge via subtle movements of a single digit of one hand. Corhyn has yet to successfully interpret “the daintiest morsel,” but he’s certain that this is his “life’s calling.”

Step 6: Reach Leyndell

Continue exploring the Altus Plateau until you reach Leyndell, the Royal Capital. Once inside, you’ll be able to find Corhyn and Goldmask on a ridge overlooking the Erdtree near the colosseum on the city’s western side. Here, the pair contemplate a riddle (or so Corhyn says). Thankfully, these two dunces have you do the hard thinking for them.

Step 7: Discover Radagon’s secret

To progress further, you must defeat the golden shade of Godfrey, First Elden Lord.

After gaining access to the Erdtree Sanctuary site of grace, climb around on the roots and rooftops outside until you’re able to reach the Golden Order Principia, an incantation prayer book hanging on a chair above the boss room. Give the book to any incantation vendor, such as Turtle Pope in Liurnia’s Church of Vows or Corhyn himself, and then purchase the Law of Regression incantation.

This incantation requires 37 intelligence to cast, so either comb through your inventory for gear that raises your intelligence, or go visit Rennala and spend a Larval Tear to respec your character until you can cast it.

Return to the Erdtree Sanctuary in Leyndell and proceed west, ride down the elevator, and continue until you find a message on the ground that mentions “regression.” Cast Law of Regression while standing on the message, and the statue ahead will change from an image of Radagon to one of Marika. The message will change as well, revealing that Marika and Radagon are actually the same person.

Step 8: Blow Goldmask’s mind

With this strange knowledge in hand, return to the scholars and tell Goldmask what you learned. Exhaust Corhyn’s dialogue, reload the area, and the two will have left.

Chapter 3: To the Mountains of Madness

Step 9: Find Corhyn and Goldmask again

After leaving Leyndell, Brother Corhyn and the Noble Goldmask head to Mountaintop of the Giants. In order to reach their new location, you’ll need to beat the boss of the Capital, Morgott, and head up the Grand Lift of Rold. If you need help with Morgott, consult our guide to defeating the Omen King.

The pair await you on the bridge to the south of Stargazers’ Ruins. Speak with Corhyn there to learn that he’s begun to doubt his master’s credentials. Notably, if you have the Tonic of Forgetfulness from the Volcano Manor questline in your inventory at this point, you can offer it to Corhyn, though he will refuse it.

SPOILER WARNING: We’ll be discussing endgame spoilers past this point. If you don’t want to read them, complete Crumbling Farum Azula before continuing.

Step 10: Complete Crumbling Farum Azula

Once you commit to burning the Erdtree and defeat the boss of Crumbling Farum Azula, Leyndell, Royal Capital will become Leyndell, Capital of Ash. It’s there where you’ll complete Corhyn and Goldmask’s story.

Step 11: Speak to Goldmask in the Capital of Ash

If you’ve followed every step up to this point, you can find Goldmask near the colosseum once again. Speak to him to receive the Mending Rune of Perfect Order, which unlocks a specific ending to the game. Reload the area and return to his location to get the very cool Radiant Gold Mask.

Step 12: Locate Corhyn one last time

There’s only one step left: to find Brother Corhyn once again and learn what he makes of all this.

Reports online differ as to where Corhyn can be found at this stage; the location seems to be either back on the Mountaintops of the Giants on the bridge where you previously found him and Goldmask, or in the Capital of Ash at the base of the large spiral spear.

Either way, exhaust his dialogue to find out that he now sees Goldmask as a madman, and resents the burning of the Erdtree, which he viewed as “the culmination of perfection.” Lastly, reload the area to claim Corhyn’s Bell Bearing and Corhyn’s Robe.

Well, it’s not a happy ending, but it’s an ending nonetheless.
