Woman wins $150,000 prize on scratch-off ticket: 'I just started jumping' (2024)

Mega millions. Powerball. The jackpots keep going up. We're buying those tickets hoping we win. But be careful. The better Business Bureau says we've lost more than $9 million to lottery scams over the last few years, the scammer will use the names and logos of real lotteries to trick you and they'll randomly reach out by email, text, even social media, they'll claim you've been chosen for *** prize, even putting your name on *** list that looks official. But here's the big red flag. You need to know that's not how these big lotteries work. Don't choose random winners, but the biggest red flag is that the scammer will tell you you have to pay to get the prize. Real lotteries will never ask you to pay insurance fees or delivery fees or for you to pay the taxes before you get the money. And if they tell you, you can increase your odds of winning by paying, it's *** scam. Just remember, you can only win by buying *** ticket and matching the winning numbers. Trust me, I know I've tried. Winning is by chance. You don't have to pay fees up front. That's all for today back to you, keep playing, you may win.

I was worried about debt that it would put me in, but I wanted to buy, get the home. I immediately called my loan officer and told him I just won some money and I’m not going to really need the loan anymore," winner Anna Hall told lottery officials. Hall bought the Ohio Lottery’s Lady Luck 50X scratch-off ticket. She told lottery officials that after purchasing the ticket, she went to work and started to scratch off numbers. “I noticed it was (sic) 15 winners on there, but I kind of thought it was just a typical $10, right? $10 win,” she said. “So, I scratched the first one and saw it was $2,000 and, honestly, I sit back from the desk and I went to my coworker and asked her to check it, to make sure I was right, and when she did it, she showed me it was like, ‘no, that's it.’ Then, I scratched the rest of them, and I just started jumping up and down," she exclaimed. After taxes, she will take home approximately $108,000. She says she plans to use her winnings to purchase a home and use the money on her family. “I just adopted a baby. I’m in the process of adoption. She’s 8 months now, and I got her when she was three days old. So, I’m starting a college fund for her as well,” she said. Lady Luck 50X is a $10 scratch-off game that has a top prize of $500,000. As of June 14, there are three top prizes remaining in the game.
